Cardiovascular (heart)
Myocardial Perfusion Scan (Thallium Stress Test)
Ask your physician what medications you should take the day of the study.
Nothing to eat or drink at least four hours before the test.
Wear comfortable clothing and rubber soled shoes.
PREGNANCY OR POSSIBLE PREGNANCY IS A CONTRAINDICATION.
Average length of study: 3 ½ to 4 hours.
Pharmacologic Cardiac Scan with stress test (Persantine, Dobutamine or Adenosine)
Ask your physician what medications you should take the day of the study.
Nothing to eat or drink at least four hours before the test.
PREGNANCY OR POSSIBLE PREGNANCY IS A CONTRAINDICATION.
Inform your physician if you have bronchial asthma or bronchospastic disease.
Average length of study: 3 ½ to 4 hours.
Wall Motion study rest(MUGA)

Average length of study: 2 hours.
Viability studies
Ask your physician what medications you should take the day of the study.

Average length of study: 4 hours.
Gastrointestinal
Solid phase Gastric emptying
Completely fasting from midnight the night before.
No medications the morning of the test.

Average length of study: 3 to 4 hours.
Bone Scan
Total Body Bone Scan / Bone Scan with Flow
PREPARATION: None.
PREGNANCY OR POSSIBLE PREGNANCY IS A CONTRAINDICATION.
Brain Scan
Brain scan with / without vascular flow
PREGNANCY OR POSSIBLE PREGNANCY IS A CONTRAINDICATION.
Pulmonary (lungs) Lung Ventilation
Lung Scan ventilation and Lung Scan Perfusion
Length of the test: 1 ½ hours.
PREGNANCY OR POSSIBLE PREGNANCY IS A CONTRAINDICATION.
Thyroid
Thyroid Uptake & Scan / Thyroid uptake only
PREPARATION:
If patient takes thyroid medication or thyroid hormone, wait 7 days without medication.
This is a two day study
PREGNANCY OR POSSIBLE PREGNANCY IS A CONTRAINDICATION.
Thyroid Scan Only
PREPARATION:
One day study
PREGNANCY OR POSSIBLE PREGNANCY IS A CONTRAINDICATION.
Thyroid Therapy
PREPARATION:
Patients must be off thyroid at least 7 days prior to the test.
Pregnancy test (if pre-menopausal) – MUST NOT BE PREGNANT.
Results of Thyroid uptake and scan.
Blood laboratory results.
One hour consultation.
Thyroid I-131 - - Total Body I-131 Scan (metastatic thyroid carcionoma)
PREPARATION:
Patient should be off thyroid medication for 4 weeks.
This is a three day study.
PREGNANCY OR POSSIBLE PREGNANCY IS A CONTRAINDICATION.
Parathyroid Scan
PREPARATION: None
PREGNANCY OR POSSIBLE PREGNANCY IS A CONTRAINDICATION.
Kidney and bladder Studies (urogenital)
Triple Renal Scan / Lasix Triple renal scan / Captopril renal scan
PREGNANCY OR POSSIBLE PREGNANCY IS A CONTRAINDICATION.
Tumors (neoplasm / Inflammation Infection)
